I continue to struggle with all of the symtoms of sleep apnea and while putting off the prospect of surgery have decided to try CPAP again. It seem that even with a relatively low air flow, my exhale is forced into my stomach and I become very sick for days. The main problem being a non-stop head ache which I have had now for three days. I have never been able to use the machine for more than and hour without the same result. This has been debilitating in both my lack of energy and a spike in my depression.

I have been using a full well-fitted mask due to my mouth breathing. Has anyone got any suggestions? I have never tried the nasal pillows.

Sounds like symptoms of aerophagia. You should talk to your physician about how to deal with this problem, but some advice that has worked for some:

Prop up your head with pillows so that your head is not tilting forward while you sleep: this will keep the airway open wide; discuss with your doctor getting a CPAP machine with exhalation pressure relief to help prevent involuntary swallowing.
