Hi all you sorry sleepers - and former sorry sleepers :o)
Just wanting to vent as a start to my day.
I'm p*ssed that this Cpap therapy might not be working - or working fast enough.
Last night on way home I could have fallen asleep at most of the red lights.
Woke up today & ate a healthy breakfast while watching The View. By the time The View was over I was ready for bed again - so sleepy. Miserable. And muscles are still so weak I have to stop 1/2 way up steps (about 16 steps maybe) to rest thigh muscles before going on up to my bedroom. This is ridiculous.
I guess my next step should be calling the sleep doctor to ask what I should do or maybe call DME to ask if the card in my machine would give enough info to help diagnose any problems. I don't know if the my card is diagnostically helpful or if it’s only nosey - giving time spent on machine to insurance company. I hope it’s a helpful card. Who knows maybe something’s going on that’s making the apnea worse rather than better. Do doctors offices (sleep docs) read these cards at followup appointments? I have noticed a few things that ARE worse since starting CPAP. When NOT going to sleep with intent but instead like almost drifting off while watching tv or something I catch my throat closing up (relaxing way too much or something) and then I hear gurgling or semi snore sounds and the noise wakes me up. This is a totally new thing since starting CPAP. Makes me wonder if the air pressure from cpap on throat might be making the muscular structures weaker. I'm rambling. Gosh I hope I don't slip into a worse state of apnea.
Ending Vent Now.
Hope you all have a beautiful day
Barbara

How long have you been on the treatment Barbara?
Was on CPAP for 2 weeks. Off CPAP for next 2 weeks because of cold/allergy type thing and couldn't breathe during coughing fits. Back on machine for past week for every minute of sleep. Guess I'm still a newbie with total net CPAP time only being about 3-4 weeks so far. I just really want to WAKE UP at some point.

maybe, your face mask is not right for you.
Cal, that's a good thing for me to think about in more detail.
I was sent home with one type, 1 hole, nose pillow mask and could tell the head gear was a misfit. DME gave me new headgear and it came with a different type nose pillow with 2 holes each one going slightly up into the nose.
If this one is a misfit I wonder if the digital card would give info that could let me know - i guess a leak report would come in handy right now. I'm calling the sleep Doc and DME on Monday.
Woke up this morning with a mile long to-do list on top of my mother wanting to go run around town to do a dozen things. Instead I sit here zoned out at computer debating if I should go back to bed - i.e. waist the day away :o(.
It took me years of not sleeping to get to the exhaustion level, so when I first got my CPAP, I thought I would immediately start feeling better. Not so, it took months to feel like I was improving, and a full year to get my energy back. I have tried many different masks, and been really involved with my sleep doc/team, and they have been great. I am a new woman after 13 months, and everyone comments on it.
Jeanne CONGRATS on finding the right mask & feeling better.
I just woke up from a 1/2 day long nap. Just what I didn't want - to waist away this day.
And even after this nap I feel like I'm drugged. Actually I could cry.
I tried to pay attention to mask fit. Maybe some leaking but it does stay on my face (unlike the first mask).
Going to hit the coffee now.
