Sore teeth? Is this normal?
I just started my CPAP therapy 1 week ago, and other than several humidifier problems (I finally just stopped using it!) things have been going ok. I'm using a nasal pillow mask, and don't think I'm having a problem keeping my mouth closed, but when I wake up in the morning, my teeth are sore. Is this normal? Am I sub-conciously clenching my jaw to keep my mouth closed? Anyone else experience this?

I guess more just the front...I'm wondering if I'm pushing on them with my tongue.

Actually, it is not uncommon for people to be sensitive to the pressure of the mask resting on the upper lip. It doesn't occur as often with a pillows mask, but it does happen. It may be the angle of the mask. Some masks do it and some don't. But, we definitely have come across people who have sensitive teeth. I have also heard from someone that their dentist told them the mask can move the teeth over time. Don't know how true that is. But if you are uncomfortable, I would consider trying a different mask--maybe a different pillows style or a full face so it bypasses your upper lip altogether.

Give it a little more time. I had some initital pain when first starting. Nothing so bad that I had to take anything for it -- just enough pain to know it was there. It went away after a couple of weeks and haven't had a problem since.

It's been a while, but I believe I had that when I used the Breeze mask. For whatever reason that one just kind of pushed on my top lip too much and made my upper front teeth feel sore. I don't recall having that issue with my swift masks (they're nasal pillow ones too, but different headgear) and I haven't tried the nasal masks enough to know if they'd bother me there.
Maybe you can loosen the part that is under your nose that might be pushing on your teeth? Sometimes the tendency is to keep tightening the mask, but it can be too tight (which can also cause leaks). Or maybe a different mask style if this problem keeps up.

I checked again last night, and my mask doesn't even put pressure on my top lip, so I'm thinking the soreness is just coming from holding my mouth closed, and possibly pressing my tongue on the back of my teeth. It's not painful enough to take anything for, so I think I'll just see if it goes away in the next few weeks. Thanks for the suggestions!
