Hello, just trying to get a feel for this site, and not sure how much I will use it.

My wife snores ALOT!! Does that mean she has Sleep Apnea?

I have been diagnosed with it and have the CPAP thing... I cannot use it!!

The only difference I see with it is that I now NOTICE that I stop breathing. Before, I was oblivious to it.

I also tried the stretchy thing you put on your head and pull it down accross your chin. It is supposed to keep the jaw forward. With that thing, I can hear myself snoring very loudly.

My next thing will be the Dental route. Has anyone had any success with any of these things?

What I tell my pts is that "if you snore you should have a sleep study." Studies have shown that a high % of people that snore do indeed have obstructive sleep apnea. There are other signs. Is she ever tired when she should not be. Does she ever feel like she is going to fall asleep while driving, watching t.v., or doing any activity in which she should not feel tired? She should probably be evaluted by a sleep doc. for the snoring alone.

Why do you have problems with your CPAP treatment? I would really like to know. Yes there are many other treatment options, but CPAP is the most effective. It is very possible even with the dental device that you will still have apnea.

Please no matter what treatment you do research them on sites like this or cpaptalk.com. Had you have come here first we could have explained some of the problems with the many quick fix scams that are out there. Sometimes you can pull the jaw to far forward and cause just as many problems as allowing it to fall backwards. If the stretchy thing is the one I am thinking of go back to that site and look at the research data. It is incomplete and actually made a couple of those pts worse. is this the one? might not be but I have seen this all over the net.
