Mary J was asking on another thread for a "recommendation based on your experience for a small travel sized machine. Also, if I use an APAP machine now....can I use a CPAP machine for travel?" -- thought it would get better response if broken out separately here.
Mary J, not sure about small travel sized machine. someone else will have to answer that, but as for the APAP at home and CPAP for travel, i don't see any problem at all with you using a CPAP for travel even if you use an APAP at home. Might be a little less comfortable for you, but presumably the CPAP is set at your titrated pressure, so it should be therapeutically fine. i'm no doctor though. . .
Rather than blindly going with the titrated pressure, I'd look at the data from my APAP and evaluate the 90th or 95th percentile pressure, then go to my doctor and discuss the possibility of a pressure setting at that level. If you had a good titration study and your APAP is doing its thing, the 90-95th percentile (Respironics shows 90th, ResMed shows 95th), the two pressures should be very close. If they aren't, then it's time to talk to your doctor about why they are different, and which pressure you should use for the CPAP.
