I have a CPap machine and it works fine. I suffer with breathing problems especially in Autumn when the farmers burn their stubble and the foresters burn the forests.

I asked the people at Fisher and Paykel if they had any ideas. They now sell me an inline filter which keeps out the smoke. The filter fits between the hose and the mask.

Both of my nostrils are now clear at night and the CPap works better. The filter is bought by hospitals for treating breathing problems. The filter lasts anything from one night when things are bad to a week. They cost me $3.50 direct from Fisher and Paykel. The part number is RT019. I added, upon instruction, one setting on the pressure.

Excellent Gordon. Bet this info will be helpful to a lot of people.
Gordon,
This is great to know, as I have allergies to something that grows specific to the region I live in - therefore I cannot ever open my windows in the Spring and Fall and enjoy fresh air or my allergies make me very sick. I will definitely check into this inline filter and see if it will work on my Respironics machine and mask.

Anything that helps with those awful allergies is always helpful to me!

Thanks for sharing!

Hello Melodie,

It is great that my information is of some help. Perhaps an email to Respironics will give you their equalalent to this filter. It is readily available to hospitals in Australia. It is good enough to filter out viruses so it must be good enough to filter out pollens. Best of luck and do know how you get on.

Take care,

Gordon.
