Hi all..
A friend went for a sleep test a few days ago (not sure where, it was not a major market, I do know that).  She told me that she was so uncomfortable with all the sensors and wiring, that she told the tech she would never be able to sleep all wired up like that.  At which point, she was given a sleep medication to 'help her sleep'.  She told me she slept like a log, and that she was groggy for 2 days afterward.

Is this an accepted medical practice??  Would being 'sedated' affect the outcome of the test?

I haven't experienced being given a sleep med by the lab techs, but perhaps she had expressed her reservations to her doc who ordered a sleep med for her. Or the clinic has a standing order from a physician. It should not invalidate the test.
