this problem happens to most of us, at least in the first few months of using CPAP. It could be a number of things, including that you're strapping the mask on too tightly, that your pressure is too high for you to tolerate at this point, that the style of mask you have isn't well suited to your facial structure, etc.
How many masks have you been through, and are you aware that your Durable Medical Equipment company can exchange your mask in the first 30 days for free?

Hi William,
I think we've all done this from time to time! I've awoken during the night to find my mask off, and the machine shut off, but no recollection of having done so. I usually just put it back on and go back to sleep.
I have found the most trouble, for me, is when the mask is too loose, and when I try to sleep on my right side. So, I've since tightened up on it, and only sleep on my back and left side.
You'll probably find that the longer you use your CPAP, the less likely you'll take it off during the night.
