Why don't I get out of breath when I have an apnea? I was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea last year, and I'm now being successfully treated for it. but I wonder... Before CPAP treatment, I can never remember being out of breath when waking even though I was told that I was having like 40 apneas an hour or something.
Also, is it the lack of oxygen from the repeated apneas or is it the lack of deep sleep because the body has to slightly wake every time there is an apnea in order to make itself breath that causes all of the probems associated with this condition?
