Hi,

I have a resmed autoset II, and using a mirage activa LT mask.
I'm reading leak rates in the range of 0.22 to 0.38 off the display of my machine.
Should I be concerned ? I was expecting the leak rates to be closer to 0.
Would the AHI, AI, HI readings off the display of my machine, still be accurate with these leak rates ?

I would appreciate comments.

Thanks.
Narciso

I do not use the Resmed machines so have no experience in them.

We do have some very knowledgeable users that have used this particular machine and will give you their opinion.

I do know that with the Respironics machines the exhaust will create some "leak" data and it is normal up to a certain percent.
Sleepycarol, I appreciate your response. I hope others who are more experienced with Resmed also chime in.
The mask are designed to leak some. This is to release co2 and keep you from suffocating during your sleep. Each mask has a different allowable leakage rate. personally I would concentrate more on personal feeling (are you feeling better since beginning pap therapy?), and your AHI. If you are not feeling better, or your AHI is high then I would look to a mask adjustment and or replacement.
I am bumping this up in hopes that Judy will see it. She is our resident Resmed user and has a vast knowledge base on their machines.
I'm feeling slightly better, but waking up multiple times at night. The AHI numbers were less than 5, but the leak rates seemed high (0.22 to 0.38 on my resmed), so I'm not sure how accurate the AHI numbers are.

Rock Hinkle and sleepycarol, many thanks for your posts.
Who set your Resmed S8 AutoSet II up for your use? Assuming it was set up by your local DME provider and assuming your provider knew what he/she was doing and set the Mask Selection correctly your AutoSet should be able to compensate for the 0.22 Ll/M leak and maintain adequate data. The 0.38 L/M is pushing it a bit.
Judy, thank you.
The unit of the leak rate readings off my resmed display is in L/s, eg 0.22 L/s. Is it correct that the limit or threshold (multiply the display reading in L/s by 60 to get L/min) is 25 L/min ? Thank you.
