I was just referred to the neurologist for what the heart doctor thinks is seizures. I've been doing CPAP for 2 months now and these "seizures" have gotten a lot worse. Any ideas? Maybe it has nothing to do with my sleep apnea and I should rewire my brain to think so.

Sorry I don't know the answer to your question, but I wanted you to know I read it and hope some brainier folks will weigh in.

According to a relative who has seizures, but not sleep apnea, sleep deprivation can trigger seizures in someone with a predisposition to having seizures. His "epilepsy doctor" advises all patients who have had a seizure to avoid sleep deprivation for fear of triggering further seizures.

Could it be possible while you are still learning to use and sleep with CPAP, you are getting less sleep?

Much discussion about sleep apnea and seizures here: http://www.google.com/search?q=seizures+and+sleep+apnea&rls=com...
I guess I may be getting less sleep, but I sure feel the effects if I don't sleep with my machine. I love the thing and wake up feeling wonderful, but it only lasts a little while and I go into "seizures". They are not the full tonic clonic (grand mal) type, but rather simple partial or complex partial (petit mal). Then I snap out of it and feel great until I go into it again. I've been averaging about 10 "seizures" (I don't dare say it's that for sure yet, since I haven't been diagnosed.) per day. But, these last 3 weeks, I've been working late nights and early mornings, so sleep deprivation could be the culprit.
Can you cut back on those long days and get eight hours of daily sleep at least until you have an evaluation by the neurologist?
In about 5 more days I'll be able to go back to normal, sleepwise.
I doubt that it is CPAP related. Sleep related maybe like Banyon said. I have found that many sleep deprived pts have micro-seizures. These pts would have never known if they had not gone through a sleep study.
