I do find since my allergies have acted up that I have a drier mouth than usual....but, I just chalked it up to the medication could the dry mouth be the reason for this???? Belinda, i mentioned dry mouth because dry mouth is something that i started getting once i started CPAP and i learned that it was a sign that i was opening up my mouth unwittingly at night, causing the pressurized air from CPAP to escape. this might cause you to wake up from your sleep. especially if you have allergies, you'll find it harder to breathe through your nose, so you'll naturally open your mouth and mouth breathe to compensate. the answer to that is to work with your allergist to get the allergies under control. you can also try a chinstrap. on the other hand, it might be what rock's saying that you're just getting better quality of sleep than you have before with cpap, and in a shorter amount of time than before. so in other words, your 4 or 5 hours of cpap sleep may feel as good to your body as 8 or 9 hours of sleep without the cpap...
