heard this rumor re the difference between the algorithms for the ResMed Auto-adjusting CPAP and the Philips Respironics Auto-adjusting CPAP: "the Phillips machine takes something like 12 apneaic events before it raises the pressure slightly whereas the ResMed takes only 1 before it ramps up slightly."

Anyone know whether it's true that the ResMed algorithm is more responsive than the PR algorithm?

My experience tell me that this is true. I do not know about 1 apnea vs 12. I do believe that if left wide open the Resmed algorithm will presssure up faster. in the same situation I believe the resmed more likely to over titrate. i say all of this as an S8 user.
I agree jnk. I am not an MD. I prefer the Resmed algorithm for my therapy. That is a personal choice. I have come to this decision having been able to play with a few machines. I also think that auto-titrations at full range are the worst way to initiate someone to PAP therapy. My reasons for this are for another post. BUTT! If I were to recommend this process for someone, or for myself. I would prefer it to be on the Respironics Autosystem. Another personal choice.
