Hi

I was wondering with the Resmed S9 Autoset with humidifier, has anyone ever heard any clicking noise coming from the humidifier Airhose outlet ?  The clicking noise is soft and has an interval of 5 to 10 seconds, or sometimes have 3 to 4 clicks within a 5 seconds.

Regards

anyone using the ResMed S9?
I have heard other people ask this question.  Sorry can't remember what the outcome was.  You might want to call your DME.
I use the S-9, but I have never heard any clicking noise. Mine is very quiet-no sound at all.

I have a ResMed 9, but no noise, except the air noise while I am trying to breathe.

Hi Guys

The clicking noise comes from the Humidifier Air Hose connector.  The connector is orange in color and has 3 metal pins that joins to the humidifier outlet.  But mine has got a clicking noise every 5 or 8 seconds.

Mine is not orange and there are no metal pins!  Are you sure they haven't given you a used one that somebody has messed with?  Mine has just a clear  humidifier outlet and the airhose has a grey rubber connector that just slides onto the outlet and  fits tightly. Something does not sound right.

Hi Maryann

I've attached the photo of the climateline tube that's connected to the Humidifier.

My hose has no pins. It just slides on. Maybe if you get a replacement it will be different and won't make any noise. How long have you had your S9? My insurance pays for a new hose every three months and I had to replace it once because it was split. But the original did not look like the one you show in the picture. Maybe they changed it sometime along the way. You know how they are always making things "better" and all they do is screw it up? I have only had mine since December 3 2010.

Hi Maryann,

I had mine only 5 weeks ago.  It's a good machine, but I've paid in full but my health insurance didn't pay it as I'm not on the top of the range cover.

That noisy hose is a special alternative hose for the S9 to control rainout/humidity levels.  Sounds like the clicking is part of the humidity adjustment feature.

The one Maryanne describes is the standard hose I also use which has no special humidity control...it's just a tube.

I suppose you could try a standard hose if the clicking is annoying.

Hi Caroline, I could try a standard hose, however, when the machine is switched off, the clicking noise can still be heard.

However, if I unplug the machine from the power point or pull out the power supply from the S9 itself, the clicking noise stops.

Hi Johnny, I am curious as to the humidifier setting you are using and if turning the setting down or  Off changes the sound and frequency of the clicks.
