Positive:

I got my ResMed S9 Auto Set 10 days ago. I love it!!

It looks good, easy to use, the design is friendly and look like home product not a medical
product.

The display is nice size, in color, and give you summary information every day.

The EPR option of this machine is excellent. I compared it to Respironics and I could not breath nearly
as well especially when you try to exhale. the S9 is so
much quieter and easier to breath (exhale), With ResMed S9 you
almost breath normally.

That is one of the main reason I decided to go with S9.

Negative:

The user manual is too short and does not include enough details.

No software to download to a PC and analyze the result, that is a huge negative. We
need data to help our doctors and ourselves.

We can not just trust the Dr to tell us what is wrong and to always have time to analyze our data. Without all the
detailed data, graphs, reports, we can not understand and monitor our own
progress.  I almost did not chose S9 because of that reason.

Eh, the software is available, you just have to be a bit innovative and ask around at the various apnea support forums including this one. ResScan 3.10 is the version you need w/the S9s.

cpappernewbie posted a comparison of the S9 and the PR S1 at cpaptalk just yesterday. Of course the comparison is just his/her personal experience and opinion.

after 4 nights with S9 and 3 months with PR Systems One (in total my CPAP experience in the last 3 years is 2 straight CPAP and 4 autos, all Respironics) here is my short writeup

what I dislike about PR System One
1. design - the filter is located at the bottom end - for what? to suck dust?
2. noise level is higher than S9
3. color scheme
4. software - the professional version is complicated to install and very slow to run
5. only weekly average is available on screen
6. LCD is impossible to read without glasses and light
7. humidifier setting through LCD
8. the travel bag - bigger size and clumsy to carry

what I like about PR System One
1. the humidifier
2. water level is visible
3. easy to setup
4. low price (vs S9, around 50% of S9 price)

what I dislike about S9
1. water level not visible
2. price, price control and policy

what I like about S9
1. human interface is very well designed (use color scheme, friendly icons etc)
2. very very quiet
3. slimline hose is a great idea
4. better sleep quality
5. simpler software
6. daily stats are available on screen
7. the travel bag looks just like laptop bag

I do notice the s9 has more of a "chemical" smell in my climate line tubing, or maybe its the humidifier..
I thought the s 1 had a "fresher" smell. YOu should enjoy that...
