I have no health insurance and can't afford the sleep study or afford a CPAP machine. I was wondering if there are any research studies in the San Francisco Bay Area that I could get this done for free. Or if someone can point me in some other direction where I can get this done for less than $100. I'm really getting concerned about my condition and would like to do something soon. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

There are several medical schools in the SF Bay Area--log on to their websites to see if you can find any studies going on--Stanford, UCSF, UC Davis.

Otherwise, you are not going to be able to find any way to do this for under $100, it's just not realistic.  There are used APAP machines you can sometimes find for little money on Craigslist, at thrift shops, etc. that may allow you to do a form of home testing and treatment (if you study up and learn what you need to do so effectively), but you will still need a mask, hose, filters, etc.

I don't think it's possible to gather what you need for less than $100.
