I am wondering what everyone thinks on this subject. I have a $600.00 MM deductable, and it IS the half point of the year. Do you think it would be more feasible to rent or outright purchase the machine.

I was thinking that if I rented it, IF there were any problems they would have to take care of it, where as a warranty is probably not good but for about 90 days.

Thanks for your ideas on this subject.

AND......Happy Fourth to everyone!

God bless the USA, Land that I love!!

There was a new discussion on warranties and basically they are about two years. Talk to your equipment provider and insurance company to determine the least expensive way to go. Many insurance companies will rent the machine for so many months and then buy it. I don't understand how your deductable works. Would you have to pay rental on the machine until you reached $600?
A new machine was just discussed on the forum which would be less than $600 with humifier. Then there's the expense of hose and mask. Or the whole kit and kapoodle would just about reach $600. Thew new machine is manufactured by EVO and as far as we know if you got one you would be the first on the forum to do so.

It sounds like a nice machine at a very reasonable price.
Keep us posted. Good Luck.

Most deductibles start over at the beginning of the year, and many still have the copay each and every month.

For me I started cpap therapy at the end of August 2007. At the time I had fairly good insurance and had met my deductible already through the sleep studies (I needed two). That meant all I had was the copay on my machine. I found out in December that our district was changing insurance companies -- and even if that wasn't the case a new deductible would have to be met again. With the new insurance company the deductible was going to take a big jump ($500 to $2000). I called the insurance company and asked if they would work with me and make the machine a purchase instead of a rental and they agreed (I was honest and told them that our district was switching carriers). So my machine ended up costing me only $15.00 out of pocket. Not bad at all for an M series Apap with c-flex.

I suggest calling your insurance company and trying to work with them in deciding which way to go.
