Reasons you haven't had a sleep study? Insurance Related? Other reasons?

It would be interesting to see how many are going untreated due to health insurance -- either a lack of or other issues dealing with their their health insurance?

I know for me, our insurance did not cover any type of sleep studies for years. I had checked our health insurance booklet a few times (we usually get a new one yearly) and sleep studies were excluded. In August of 2007, upon the advice of my doctor, I called the insurance company and they stated that they had recently implemented covering sleep studies and equipment. As soon as I found out that insurance would help cover the cost I made the appointment through my primary care physician.

If you are having issues with getting a sleep study please share your thoughts on this matter.

My health insurance wouldn't and still doesn't cover the sleep tests. Fortunately for me, my insurance company did know of a free testing program that I was able to get in on several years ago (probably 6 years ago) that helped me to qualify for the treatment. I don't know if anyone still does this, but it's worth checking into.
