Problem with mask straps unhooking during the night?

The velcro straps on my mask unhook at night...not the velcro part, but the loop part comes undone. Is this common, or do I just have a bad mask.

Also, I wake up in the morning without my mask on sometimes. I must take it off in my sleep. Anyone find a solution to that? I tell my hubby, if he wakes up and sees me without the mask to wake me up and make me put it back on. I am stubborn even in my sleep I guess. I am trying to be 100% compliant.

What is the name of the mask you are using. We can better understand your problem and make some suggestions if we know that. The headgear for each mask is different.
What Judy said!!! :^)

Also, if there are "clips" or a "ball and socket" type set up that you can use to removed the mask instead of undoing the velcro, this can be avoided.

I don't know that you are doing this, but this is what usually happens when the velcro is over used.

The benefit of taking off only the clips or the ball and socket is that you always have the same tightness and don't have to adjust the mask, and you don't ruin the velcro.

Maybe you can show us which mask you have? on here>

I use the Mirage Swift I, and never in 3 yrs had straps come loose.
I like this site, I'm not a Rep. and get no commission, their service and prices are impeccable.
It is a Fisher & Paykel, HC407, I think that is the model number, It covers just the nose, not my mouth. One of the straps came loose again last night. I definitely need to get a new mask.

Thanks for sending me to that site. This is what I use: http://cpapplus.com/CPAP_Masks/CPAP_Masks/HC407/HC407.html

It is definitely a Fisher Paykel 407.

I'm not familiar with this mask, are you pressing the velcro really tight? I'm sure they'll replace it, these things happen, sorry you might delay your therapy because of this, please keep us posted, ok?

My velcro straps on my full resmed face mask have had issues, witht he velcro just being old and not sticking. You can order new straps on some websites. Also you can email the manufacturer and they can help you with issue you have. Most masks and the parts have a one year to 90 day warranty, you will have to check with your manufacturer. I haev woke up with my mask off, I took it off during a dream LOL.....I just put it on when I wake up. Really not kcuh you can do to help that unless your straps are defective, which it sounds like they may be.

Good luck and good sleep!

I'm having a problem wrapping my mind around that statement. You mean the clips, or snaps or balls, whatever that snap on the mask frame??

Its been so long since I used a HC 407 Flex-Fit ..... I just don't remember how the headgear straps attach to the frame.
There are 4 points that the headgear attach to. The velcro straps form a kind of "loop" and those slip in like a bra shoulder strap. Like bra shoulder straps, they have an opening that the straps can slip out of. And they slip out. I am giving up on this mask and I purchased 2 more masks...hopefully they work out :)
Okay, thanks. NOW I remember altho I didn't have that problem. If you got that 407 from a local DME supplier, take it back and show them the problem. They should replace it at no charge since all they have to do is fill out a form and send mask and form to F&P for a replacement at no charge. And they should provide you w/another mask at no charge.
Great Judy- hope this replacement is no big deal, it happens. But I (from experience) know if you get the equipment right, and use for MONTHS, not weeks, you will feel better. Please tell us how you are doing.
