Hoo boy. Here we go .... We all need prescription medications from time to time.

ExpressScripts is in the process of buying Medco assuming it can pass the anti-trust hurdle.

The "big three" pharmacy benefit companies have been Medco, ExpressScripts and CVS Caremark. The combined company would be the industry's largest.

Medco just lost 2 key accounts w/a 3rd, United Health Group, not going to renew w/them in 2013. Medco had just lost an important account w/Calpers, the biggest US public pension fund.

So funneling the availability of the vast majority of script meds thru 2 major companies will benefit patients and lower drug costs how???  Setting up another company "too big to fail" for the government to bail out some time in the future??

This is truly scary. With no competition, the prices are bound to soar! And they are already way too high for what they are selling.

Just FYI, try going to Costco Pharmacy. I just did and saved quite a bit. I was getting Zolpidem thru a neighborhood drugstore and the 60 tablets I would have needed (which I could only get 30 thru my insurance company) would have cost nearly $50 out of pocket.  At Costco the 60 tablets was just over $12 -- cheaper than my insurance copay!
