OIG Investigation Into Sleep
Awhile back, the OIG announce their audit of the sleep industry in 2009. I'm wondering what the fall out has been so far, if any, of the audit?

I don't keep up with it because my DME unit does not provide equipoment for CMS patients. We do the diagnostics & while there are ways to legally walk the line, we just avoid the suspicion & headaches by sending the equipment orders down the street to reliable DME dealers with whom we have no financial relationship. I hear all my buds worrying about it in the bar, count my blessings, & order another drink.

So, what, Rock Connor? Do you do as far as diagnostics? Do you conduct PSGs? You have my curiosity way up now! You've been such a great source of information so far, don't leave us hanging now!

Our total sleep medicine program which includes attending physicians, fellows, nurse practioners, an 8 bed sleep center, a research department, and a DME operation. We also serve as a clinical rotation site for college & university respiratory care & sleep technology programs.
All I do is help folks make friends w/ their PAP systems. I am a student in a polysomnographic technician program which once completed (in October, I hope!) will make me eligible to sit for the BRPT's RPSGT exam.

By goshes, Rock Connor, you DO rock!!! Good on you. Fascinating sleep facility you are part of. And part of a clinical rotation for a university too. I should think you are getting an excellent, well-rounded education in this type of facility. Given your own caring personality and the eductional exposure you are getting you are gonna be one heck of an asset to the sleep profession.
