I wish I had CPAP. I was diagnosed in February. I have brain and heart trouble due to Sleep Apnea. This guy on twitter told me if i registered on here I could find help. My husband and I are both on Unemployment. We are drafters currently out of work due to the economic downturn. We also have no insurance.

Carol,

I tend to agree with what you said. If a person were as desperate as Cynthia is trying to depict herself, you would assume she would jump at a "lightly" used piece of equipment that would "save" her life.

I have followed the posts and with each and everyone, more questions arise.

If she had a sleep study, did she pay out of pocket for that or was their insurance in place at that time? If insurance was in place, then why wasn't the unit obtained at that time? She doesn't seem to remember a lot about the study, but she has made no effort to obtain the sleep study or the information (all of which she is entitled) to which she claims she has and provide the pertinent information to which would allow others to help.

There is not a person on this site that wouldn't bend over backwards to assist her, but some initiative on the individual’s part needs to be taken.

Cynthia, I am sorry for being so blunt, but you have to step up and grasp the seriousness of the problem. We can't hold your hand. Some serious decisions need to be made on your part. The biggest one is - live or die. The rest are easy.

Well it would appear to me that since you are unwilling to use supplies (ie a mask) that has been gently used before -- bite the bullet and purchase a new mask, filters, and hose from on on-line supplier. The can be picked up fairly reasonable. In other words, you are going to have to help yourself and not expect others to do it for you.

I know this may seem a bit harsh, but my favorite mask is one that was that was used prior to me getting it. I washed it thoroughly and have it used it regularly for over a year now. If you are in need there is no reason, good gently used supplies won't work. That is just my opinion. Some here on the forum has tried to offer suggestions to get you a set up for a mere fraction of the cost, which in my opinion are reasonable suggestions.

This forum was NOT established to provide supplies, equipment, medical advice, monetary help, etc. It WAS established as means to connect with those interested in the sharing of ideas, suggestions, answering questions, and support for those suffering from sleep apnea.

There have been some instances where forum members have helped each other out with equipment, supplies, but we do NOT have the financial means to provide new supplies and equipment to members.

Again, check with the AWAKE group. Keep checking in with them. I do know they have a selection process and potential recepients must provide documentation of certain information prior to being selected for help. You may want to check with your local welfare agencies as well. Sometimes the Red Cross, Salvation Army, and other charitable organizations will help with medical needs.
First off, my doctor said it was unsanitary to use used masks and hoses. I do remember my study, it was in February and I said I dont remember the number he gave me. Sorry I was sick and TIRED. I cant remeber alot of stuff because i have dead brain cells.

I have a USED machine which i gladly accepted. I have a new hose, I just received that. I didnt ask anyone for anything. A guy on twitter contacted me and told me to tell my story.

To answer Dan Lyons, I was employeed and had insurance until February 20, 2009. My sleep study was February and March, my insurace ended on March 31st. My appointment for reviewing the sleep study was in april AFTER my insurance lapsed. I still owe for that visit, actually also for my cost of share for that appointment, the two part sleep study i had (200 bucks each study) as well as others with my cardioligist, pulminologist and my neurologist.

Judgemental anyone. I dont want your help. I can do it on my own. Was there anywhere in my post that I asked for your help. NO. Sorry I posted at all.
