Hi all, I've wanted a machine for years, 10 that I remember, but without insurance to cover the 7000.00 sleep study I was out of luck. Feeling lost and defeated, I gave the yellow pages another try, and low and behold found someone who could help me ! Her name is Sherry and she owns the sleep study center. She told me if I could pay 600.00 for the study she would do it for me ! What an angel sent from heaven. I've got my machine and for the first time in years, have slept thru the night. Now for my question. I am using a hybrid mask with nose pillows. Am I supposed to breathe only thru my nose ? And my tooth sensitivity seems worse. Is it the air causing this? I may need a humidifier, don't have a clue were to start. Are any available 2nd hand ? thanks Susan

First of all the tooth sensitivity could be from lack of humidity or pressure from the mask or headgear. Make sure the mask isn't so tight that it is causing the problem. You may just have the mask too tight and it is putting undo pressure on your teeth and jaw area.

The hybrid allows for some mouth breathing. Typically breathing through your nose will provide the best treatment, but at times due to congestion, habit, etc. mouth breathing is a possiblity and the hybrid is made for those times.

The humidifier is useful for many and is often prescribed as the norm now. In the summer I have found I don't need any humidity and do not use my humidifier, but many people use them year round. Even in the winter, I use mine in passover mode. Each of us have different ideas about what is most comfortable for us and so you may need and want a humidifier.

What machine do you? You can pick a humdifier up that is gently used from www.cpapauction.com, from craigslist, or even by posting on a local want ad site. You maybe even able to pick one up here from this site if we knew which machine you have.
Thanks sleeycarol,i have a Resmed S8 compact. I forgot to mention that I have fibromyalgia, so pain is intensified all over my body. I may have it too tight as I am a restless sleeper and turn over alot. and I don't like the air leaking.
