Qualified for Cpap Aug 25, 2010

Pressure 8

Have tried full face = hurts when sleep on side = I am allergy challenged (dust, mites, trees)  congested at times.

tried nose pillow = wanted to be able to read in bed = can't imagine sleeping with it forever = don't like things up nose

Today am picking up & trying Ultra Mirage™ II Nasal CPAP Mask with Headgear

There are too many choices out there - I am comparing different brands, I just don't want to wake up in the night fiddling with a mask.

Thanks,

Sandra S

I use the ResMed Activa Nasal CPAP Mask -- not the LT, but the version prior to the LT -- and am very happy with it. what i like about it is that the cushion inflates and creates a suction against the face such that you don't have to strap on the mask tightly to get a good seal. it just kind of "floats" on my face.
Wow that mask looks super comfortable!
Yes. That's the one.

very welcome. just beware of the caveat that every face is different, and so every mask fits every face differently. the manufacturers try to solve for this by creating masks that fit a majority of faces, but the search for the perfect mask is an elusive one, and can take some time. if you're buying from a reputable vendor, many offer mask exchange policies so if you're unhappy within a 30-day period, you can exchange the mask for another one without charge. inquire about it.

Mike- I'm using Swift Mirage I w/ chinstrap- how's the fit on the mouth portion? How's sleeping on your side? The swivel exhale connection looks the same as the LT, I tried that, it's not as manuervable as just having nasal pillows and a chinstrap, is it? TIA. G.
I use a full face mask and sleep on my side. The thing that made the biggest difference was getting a cpap pillow on which to sleep. The cutouts in the pillow mean that the mask doesn't actually touch any part of the pillow so it doesn't push into my face.
Susan, I'm curious may I ask why you chose a full face? allergies? Does the "pillow" let you move around on it or do you have to stay in one position? Thanks.

I am trying the comfort gel nose mask - Most comfortable - it did leak during the night -tonight I'll see if it needs tightening (LOVE the suggestions on first putting masks on).

ResMed Activa Nasal CPAP Mask has a part under the nose that sits flat on my mouth. I don't know what that's all about? I'm small & it's a size small.
...Love is brighter than sunshine

I use a full face mask because I have allergies and breath through my mouth ( I have come to almost love my Quattro mask!). The Contour pillow is very comfortable and I can easily turn from side to side but I am beginning to find that I now don't seem to stir at all for 5-7 hours now that everything seems to be working.

The Quattro is what the doctor is having me try too.
Would you mind giving me a link to the pillow you have? I would love to not stir 5-7 hours! During the sleep study I slept 2.5 hours with the Quattro - that was a miracle!
