Tuesday I picked up my brand new, scratch free, 0 hour ASV machine. I also got a new Quattro FX mask. I'm really glad to have my ASV back, and I love the new mask. I had watched videos and read instructions on how to put on the FX and the tech at the DME helped me to adjust the straps. The DME tech was really great- he kept in touch with me to keep me up to date on what was happening with getting my machine. I would have had it earlier, but the tech at the doctors office did not send all the paperwork the dme needed.
While at his office I picked up a ResMed pamphlet on replacing supplies. They recommanded a new face/nasal cushion, nasal pillows, and filters every month. Every three months a new mask and new tubing. Every six months new headgear, chin straps and humidifier water chamber. My private insurance will cover these supplies. ResMed's rationale (besides $)
was that the mask and cushions deteriorate over time and are uncomfortable. The headgear stretches out leading to overtightening. Tubing gets small holes and tears. Humidifier water chambers may become discolored, cracked, cloudy ot pitted, but they mentioned this was due to the minerals in tapwater which we do not use in our humidifiers.
I read that their is something avaiable for divers to use to seal their masks and I bought some to try if I needed it. My FX has not leaked so I have not used the stuff. It comes in a tiny little
container. I haven't opened it to see how it feels. I did not know insurance would pay for a new water chamber every six monthI also got some B12, vit D, Vit K, and started to be consistent with my omegabright. I'll see if I feel any different in a month.
