After my last sleep study, i had to switch from Cpap to Bipap, so i found someone selling a Resmed Vpap auto 25 on craigslist. New machine. I thought i could just get into clinical settings and put in the ipap and epap settings and I would be good. The titration report recommends ipap 15 and epap 14. I've been using the machine for a week, and don't know if there are alarms for more than leaks, but it alarms several times a night, and the mask isn't leaking most of the time. A few deep breaths stops the alarm. I have it set on auto with the above settings. Am I missing something? Thanks!

15/14 is not what the AASM would recomend. You need a difference of at least 3 so 15/12 might be a set of pressures for bi-level/ Bi-PAP. If your mask is not leaking than your mouth might be opening. I don't know what kind of mask you have...if I did I'd know what else you might be able to do.
Thank you Duane, I will try changing the 15/12. The mask is the Resmed Mirage Quattro full face. I was really hoping to notice a positive change after getting the machine. I appreciate your response.
Yes, that's odd.

Like j n k said, it's the lower, EPAP, pressure that is important since it is titrated until OSA is gone. AASM recommends a 4cmH20 spread with BiPAP.

Not to be a party pooper, but the Craigslist machine might not be so new. They often alarm when the flow generator (the engine of the machine) is damaged.

Thanks to all of you for your input, I trust it more than the physicians office; I think he's old fashioned and reading the titration report. The person that performed the study on me put the he titrated it up to 15/14; and there was no further apnea's. So when I called the doctor and questioned the setting and told him I wasn't doing well with the setting, he told me to leave it at that. Maybe I'll go 18/14 and see how it goes, I can always change it. Thanks again.
