Hello I am new here, I just bought a auto pap yesterday. And I had a few questions. Now keep in mind my sleep apnea was really bad before I started therapy. I have has a s7 for over 2 years. My pressure is 12 per the sleep study but I wanted a auto because i was just not feeling "peppy" like you read about when people go from no therapy to therapy.

* my ahi on my sleep study was 90.5

Anywho

I have a resmed s8ll auto
and I slept 3 hours yesterday afternoon then 5 so far when I got off work and went to slept about 12a.m

I want someone to tell me about my numbers here

now please keep in mind I have a cold right now and my nose is completly stopped up, I only mention that because I wonder if it is affecting my breathing and the machine??

Used hrs 8

usage 1/1

Daily AHI 12.0

Average AHI 10

Pressure 13.0

I use a mirage quarto mask
Thanks :-)

I am sure that your cold is affecting your numbers. Well obviously your pressure is set at 13 cmH2o. You used your machine for 8 hours averaging 10 apneas or hypopneas per hour. Meaning that you had a breathing event every 6 minutes. I would guess that you either have a leak or your pressure is to low. As far as the big picture goes you have made a huge leap from the 90 average you had befor your therapy. by the way that is an event every 45 seconds.
do you not take the ahi then divide that by how many hours you slept?

The AHI is the average. AHI=total sleep/total apneas+toal hypopneas you take the total # of events divided by the hours slept to get AHI.
Just out of curiosity, what is the range that you have set on your auto? If it's 5-20cmH20, you will be having events up until you reach your optimal pressure.

Switching to a range of (for example) 10-20cmH20 may benefit you more so there isn't as much of a lag in your treatment.

Yes, even with a full face mask like the Quattro, you are going to be having breathing problems with a cold.

Saz
the pressure is set at 3 below my pressure set which was said to be 12 but it is saying on my machine it is been blowing at 13 maybe becuz of cold.

I dunno how to see the ai on the machine.

I want to buy the card reader and software so anyone knows where i can get that lemme know please.

I went back to sleep after writing the post this morning slept good til phone rand and discovered I was "waterlogged" in ,my mask from humid as i set it way past what i was use to. so nothin of concern there.

I must say i felt more awake today.. dunno if its a mind of matter thing or the real deal......will be able to tell more in a week.

I have wakin up more with the auto maybe becuz I need to get use to the pressure changes....but then maybe becuz i am so congested. Hubby said I snored for a minute and kicked him then was fine!!

(he is use to the abuse)
