Nasal mask air leak
Hi! I'm new to this site and a fairly new sleep apnea pt. I'm having continuous trouble with air leak with my respironics profile lite nasal mask. Air is leaking into my eyes causing redness, swelling and discharge. I clean my mask regularly to avoid contracting conjunctivitis but I really would like to try a new mask. I'm thinking of buying the optilife by respironics. Does anyone have any advice they can share with me about which is the best mask to use. Thanks.

Masks are very individualized so it is difficult to determine if one person's favorite mask will by your favorite mask. Part of this is due to each of us having unique facial features that a mask must conform to in order to fit properly.
I use the Headrest/Aura mask. Many do not like this mask, but it is the one I use consistently. I tried many, many masks before settling on this one. I have several masks that I simply do not use, but tried out before settling on my favorite one.
I am not a germaphobic and so purchased the vast majority of masks gently used, meaning other people had used them prior to me getting them. This helped contain the amount of money I spent on masks searching for the perfect one for me. Not everyone is comfortable doing this though, but it is a cheaper alternative to purchasing at retail prices.
I suggest you go to http://www.cpap.com/cpap-mask-sizing.php to determine which style of mask is most suited for your facial features.
