Dear fellow cpap users,

I am using a vpap (Resmed Adapt SV) for complex sleep apnea.  It makes a very high pitched noise like a rusty wheel. (In addition to a normal sounding soft motor and blower.)

My tech said it was normal and she did not consider it bothersome, but it actually feels like chalk on a blackboard to me.

Can these machines be replaced if they are defective?  I really believe that this is a defective machine and my supply company won't listen.  I purchased this machine myself at great personal expense because the insurance issue was complicated.  Now I find it so hard to tolerate.

Can anyone advise me?

Thanks so much.

how long ago did you purchase it?
The Resmeds are warranteed for 2 years, assuming you bought it brand new. Contact Resmed and explain that your local DME provider won't handle the problem for you.

When I had a problem w/my brand new Resmed S8 Elite w/EPR and my local DME provider that my insurance and I bought it from insisted there was no problem I called Resmed directly, they put me right thru to engineering. I explained the problem and the engineer told me to take it to my provider, that Resmed would contact them and see to it that my Elite would be replaced. My provider wasn't happy about it but they handled the replacement. As soon as my capped rental was completed I dumped that provider and found another.
Mike,
Thanks for the swift reply. I purchased it on October 1, 2009. It was hand delivered to my home on October 3, 2009.
