I have been using my ResMed S 8 Autoset II machine for about a week. Before that I used a ResMed Escape. I noticed that when using the new machine I find it ver easy to breathe both in and out. I do wake up several times throughout the night, just enough to look at the clock, roll over and go back to sleep. When I wake up I notice that it feels like the machine isn't on...I can't feel the pressure at all. Sometimes I pull the nasal pillows off just to make sure it is on. Plus the machine is very quiet.

1.) Is it normal to be waking up? (I used to wake up throughout the night before CPAP, and could always go right back to sleep).
2.) Is the machine working if I am still tired? I wondered from reading all the posts if I am having leaks from my mask. Or maybe I am just hoping to feel like superwoman when I wake up everyday.
3.) Do you notice a distinct difference in your symptoms when your therapy is spot-on and when you have leaks?

I am getting software and a reader in a week, so I don't have data to post as yet. I had someone who has OSA (not on the forum) tell me that if the Escape was set to 11 then my Autoset should not be set at 6 and 8. He said it should be more like 8 and 15. So maybe I am not getting enough pressure?

Any thoughts from you guys would be much appreciated.

Way to go, BeeAsleep!!!!
THANKS! You guys are the BEST! I am glad to know that things look good. I am going to keep a little "How I Feel Diary" next to my CPAP readings every morning. So maybe I will see progress. My symptoms were only snoring, stopping breathing and fatigue. So I guess I am lucky, I never had all the other symptoms!

I meant 95th percentile, but I had a typo. It isn't the average pressure, but rather the pressure that solves your respiratory problems 95% of the time. Another way to think of it is as a recommendation. If you were using a fixed pressure CPAP device, it is suggesting that it should be set to a pressure of 8 cmH2O.
just saw your data, Bee, and am astounded. those are truly fantastic numbers. welcome to the elite club of people who have conquered apnea! keep up the good work!
