A number of things are possible.
- You could be sensitive to Auto-Adjust and might be better off if it was set to CPAP mode
- Pressure range could be off, but you'll have a better idea about that once you start reading your data (you can push left and right buttons simultaneiously to see Efficacy Data if you want to see what's going on right away)
- You didn't mention if you woke up at night with the Escape - is it better or worse with the Autoset II? It can be very normal to wake up during the night. Many different things contribute to this.
- Don't expect overnight miracles. For some people it takes weeks or even months before they notice a difference. Some people don't notice any difference at all, then they stop using it and Wham!, they realize that it actually had been doing a whole lot of good.
- Leaks are really only a problem if they are the reason you are waking up at night. Don't worry about it!
And most importatntly....DON'T LOOK AT THE CLOCK! If it has lighted numbers, turn it away from your field of vision. Looking at the clock only creates anxiety.
Hang in there,
Daniel
Try pressing the Left and Right buttons and holding for 4-5 seconds. See if Efficacy Data appears in the LCD screen. If it doesn't then access to the advanced patient menu hasn't been turned on. But it might have been and if so you will be able to give us some data to better answer any question you may have.
If access was turned on then it is a simple matter of Left button to Enter, Right button to Exit, Up button to return to the previous screen, Down button to proceed to the next screen. You can NOT accidentally or intentionally change your therapy settings from this advanced patient menu.
Usually, we patients, would recommend setting your APAP at 1-2 cms below your titrated pressure and 1-2 cms above your titrated pressure so if your titrated pressure had been 11 cms then 8 to 15 wouldn't be too far outta the ball park.
Rather than unsettling your nasal pillows fit to see if the Autoset is providing pressure, just open your mouth. THAT will tell you if there is any pressure from your Autoset.
I would think that if you were on a pressure of 11 csm w/the Escape that it is a bit odd that your pressure range on the Autoset is 6- 8 cms. It would make more sense if it were 6 cms to 18 cms. Then I'd say they didn't have a whole lot of fatih in the titration and were using the Autoset w/that range to find just what pressure you do need.
You have to access that advanced patient menu before noon each day. These xPAPs have an internal, twentyfour hour, noon to noon clock. At noon the previous night's data is rolled over into the total averages.
Nope you only have to put the data card in the AutoSet when you want to download some data. I'm not exactly sure w/the S8 IIs, w/their forerunner S8s you wanted to do a download every 4-5 days so as not to miss any night's detailed data.
I got my numbers from lastnight:
Hours Used: 7.52
Day: 8
Leak: .00L/S
AHI: 2.5
AI: 0.1
HI: 2.4
What do you think? I am still not fully understanding the numbers so your help would be appreciated. Boy, this is a great CPAP machine!
Wow! Look at that leak! Zero! WooHoo! AHI = 2.5! I think when you wrote Day:8; it was probably the 05th percentile pressure for the day.
You're off to a great start. Keep it up!
Daniel
