Modifying an old Joke- I picked a bad week to start CPAP...

Newly diagnosed with OSA (moderate), wouldn't you know it, the day I pick-up my new CPAP I start a 5-day bout of sinus congestion.

Serious question:  1 week behind me with an average nightly compliance  rate of 7.54 hours I show I am registering 10.2 AHI.  How soon should I see significant improvement with my AHI?

Equipment:  Respironics REMstar Pro with C-Flex
Mask:  Fisher/Paykel Zest Nasal Mask
Pressure: 9

Impressed with everything I've seen so far on Sleepguide.  Thanks!

That is a bit of bad luck about the coinciding of your sinus problem and the start of CPAP -- if i were you, i'd mentally just write off that period of time because it's darn near impossible to start fresh with CPAP with a bad bout of congestion.

As for your question, you say you were diagnosed with mild OSA. Seems like the CPAP has not yet done anything for you yet because 10.2 AHI is pretty bad for someone with mild OSA on CPAP. Probably was about 10.2 before you started on CPAP. You probably need to increase your pressure. Here on the forum we discourage folks from doing that themselves, especially newbies. So you might want to talk to your doctor about your results and the suggestion I'm making here.

Keep us informed every step of the way -- there's a warm, caring group of people who have been through this who will cheer you on.
Thanks Mike! I actually mistyped and should have said Moderate OSA. I have not seen a copy of my sleep study to know what my initial AHI was. I plan on obtaining a copy to use as a reference.
Your AHI should gradually come down as your compliance goes up.
Yes, please go get a copy of your full sleep study -- not just the summary info, but also all the underlying statistics/ figures. If you care to share any of that information with us, it'll give us more to go on.
