from a member, posted elsewhere -- can anyone offer advice:

I'm sure this is an issue for many but it has been frustrating when no one has been able to help me up to now.  I use a CPAP and it does stop the snoring, however I still feel very tired throughout the day.  I'm not energized like some claim have been the results for them.My sleep doctor has had me try some drugs to no avail.  He pointed out restless leg syndrome interfering with my sleep and put me on a restless leg med which I had bad side effects from so I've been on Gabapentin.  I tried Provigil and Nuvigil which made me feel anxious.  Coffee helps for a short time.  He has pretty much given up and leaves me with no solution.  Where do I go from here?  I want my energy back.

If you have not had a thorough physical, checking blood work for various common causes of fatigue, I suggest you start there.  Are your AI and AHI within the normal range?  If so the sleep doctor probably cannot do much else for you- your PAP therapy is successful.  I take Provigil and Nuvigil, experience no anxiety, but they do not give me any energy they just help me stay awake during the day.  I understand your frustration.  We hear so many success stories where people do get their energy back and that's not too much to ask.  If your family practice doctor has been no help, perhaps a second opinion would shed some light on your situation.  Best of luck.
How long have you been on PAP?
