"I am sure my son has sleep apnea, but I no longer have medical or dental insuranc eand I can not afford the COBRA short term insurance we have been offered. He is taking some magnesium supplements because a friend swears they helped him. We really need to get him tested though, but the costs of an overnight sleep test is too much for us right now. What are people without insurance suppose to do?"

How old is the son? What type of symptoms is he exhibiting?

Have they discussed their concerns with their family doctor?

Unfortunately, they are not the only ones facing this situation.

Have they contacted their local sleep lab to see if something could be arranged such as a reduced cost sleep study?
Sleepy Carol, I don't think you're going to get the answers on this one. I have already asked a number of questions and didn't get a reply. People have to realize that if they need help, they can't just send out an "SOS" and then disappear. It's going to take some work on their part.

Is he taking the magnesium supplement for anything in particular? I doubt that it will help with sleep apnea. I take magnesium along with D and calcium because I some decalcification in my bones caused by a lack of testosterone -- my doctor prescribed it.
