Just a funny little story, I hope you all get the same chuckle I got...

Hello fellow mask-wearers! ;o)

I hope you all find this as funny as I did...  Anyone who has tried to communicate while wearing their mask will probably appreciate this and even have a story, or more, of their own...

My sister was put on a machine many months ago, before I was, but she hasn't been using it, too much anxiety with the mask.  I've been hounding her and hounding her, and it was a sad story posted here recently that I sent her way that finally made her get serious about trying again.

She's still struggling mightily with it, but she's finally "seen the light" if you will, and realizes that no matter how uncomfortable she is with it, she's got to wear it.

Anyhow...

My soon-to-be 18-year-old nephew bought a new truck and he kept teasing my sister, following her around and asking her "Are you jealous, are you jealous?"

All day and into the evening ... "Are you jealous, are you jealous?"

That night she was in bed with her mask on (still quite uncomfortable with it), and my niece (younger) was laying next to her, and my nephew, needing to get that last "jab" in, went in and asked her  ...

"Soooo... are you jealous??"

My sister's response came across as "wah wah wah wah wah" (like the adults in the Charlie Brown cartoons), because she was wearing the mask.

My nephew said "What??"  So my sister repeated herself.  My nephew again said "What??"

So my niece pipes up, her voice dripping with disdain, and says to her brother...

"Mom said  "Aren't YOU jealous of me?  Look at my underwear!""

My nephew looked at my sister and said "WHAT???  YOU'RE SICK!!!"

What my sister actually said was (sarcastically because she's not comfortable with the mask)...

"Aren't YOU jealous of me?  Look at what I get to wear!" (referring to her mask)

I'm still laughing as I think about that.  I will chuckle about that for a long time to come.

While it may not strike your funny bone as much as it did mine (and I'm sure a lot of the "funny" doesn't come across in "translation" from voice to text, and due to my lacking ability to tell a story), I'll bet LOTS of us have stories about trying to talk with that mask on and the person we're talking to asking "WHAT??" and/or completely misunderstanding what we're saying. :o)

Have a good night!  Time to go don the mask!

That is some great PAP humor!
Thank you Rock!! :o)
I couldn't stand the fact that I couldn't talk with mine on, so I learned how. It's quite an art. I still can't say my m's and n's, they come across as b, and d. But I can say any other sound. I learned how by opeining my mouth and learning to breath in and out.

lol my kids just hit the off button!  I'm awake when they do it (because they push on, and shake me, until I wake up) so it's not a problem but that's what they do, as I'm taking the mask off.  It's usually time to get up anyway. :o)

For a while there, they were apprehensive of coming near, I think I kind of made them think of a monster or something (they're 17 and 19 years old - but a bit developmentally delayed so I guess it's understandable), so they wouldn't come up to the head of my bed, instead they'd shake my leg until I woke. lol

Didn't take 'em long though to get past that and learn how to turn it off, after grabbing me by the shoulders to shake me and wake me (or they turn on the light, ugh!). :o)
