My mother in law has recently been diagnosed with sleep apnea. She does not have any insurance. If anyone has a used or barely used CPAP that they would like to donate, please contact me at ejaugust2@yahoo.com. Will pay for shipping and handling. Thank you in advance-

Below was written to me from the President of Awake In America. You might want to check it out.

Another option is to check out Awake In America's Sleep Study Relief Program and Awake In America's xPAP Donation and Relief Program. Information and the application for each program is posted at http://AwakeInAmerica.info/donaterelief/. The programs are open to citizens of the United States, and are designed to assist individuals with inadequate health insurance, without health insurance, or without the financial means necessary to obtain the necessary services. Try finding one local. Garage sales, estate sales, local internet want ads, store bulletin boards, craigslist, word of mouth.

Ask friends and people you know.

Did she have a sleep study? How was it funded if she has no insurance? If she had it done at a reduced fee or for free ask the place that conducted the sleep study as they probably deal with this at times and probably know local resources that may offer assistance.

Try your local Salvation Army, Red Cross, and other relief charities in your area if they contribute any towards durable medical goods.

Try your local DME's as they sometimes have machines they are willing to sell at a greatly reduced price or for free for those unable to afford them.

Does she know her pressure? If she gets a used machine how will you have it set to her pressure? Someone will need to adjust it according to her needs. Without a script, DME's will not set the pressure on just your word.

What about masks, hoses, filters, etc. that will be needed? What about a humidifier for the machine?

I am not trying to throw a monkey wrench into your request, just trying to make sure you have all the bases covered.
