I find that over time I have become quite lax about cleaning my machine, tubing, and mask.

This started when I was so depressed I wasn't getting out of bed or off the couch.    I now find it's hard to begin with the program again.  With time since nothing bad has ever happened with my lack of cleaning I have come to feel it isn't necessary.  This is more due to apathy or laziness than conscious  thought "this stuff doesn't need cleaning".

Well I am going to go give everything a good cleaning right now.

Good deal, Mary.  I understand what you mean, though.  It is so easy to fall out of a routine.

Mary, I do mine twice a week but if you can do it fully once a week that should be enough to get you through, as you know, it's all a matter of personal choice with cleaning.

I think it's important to clean your mask daily and air dry. Since I replace my tubing every 4-5 months, I just clean it once every several months. The tubing traps the non-distilled cleaning water, takes forever to dry, so I wonder if I'm more likely to harm myself with this process. The headgear is cleaned every few months, unless it's something like a barrel cozy, touching my nares, it's daily. Our noses tend to carry staph bacteria, hence the frequent cleaning of any equipment that touches the nose. Just an aside, I handle the tubing, refilling  distilled water tank, etc.. with freshly scrubbed hands, all to decrease contamination.
