My I am relieved to find this site. I was just found out that I have what is diagnosed and treated as central sleep apnea, but is technically called "Upper Airway Resistant Syndrome". My doctor wrote out a prescription for a CPAP with 12 titration pressure. Can anyone help me understand what this number means?

That is 12 cms of air pressure being produced and channeled via hose and mask to keep your airway open as you sleep. There is no additional oxygen, just room air at a somewhat higher pressure.
Central Apnea (CSA) and Upper Airway Resistant Syndrome (UARS) are two completely different things. I am hanging out with my wife right now. I will try and explain the differences later. For now search them as different subjects. You will get alot of hits.
Woops. I meant that it was diagnosed as Obstructive Sleep Apnea. That's what was written on the paper they gave me, but they told me it was UARS.
