Marty Arnowitz left this message inadvertently in another part of the forum. I'm leaving it here so that it attracts more attention, and hopefully will get more responses.

"I'm a newbie;

-I have Dx'd sleep apnea, about 3-4 years; need full mask, mouth and nose;
-I have CPAP machine, have tried 2 different masks, last has gel fitting, but leaks, couldn't adjust, dry eyes, waking after 1-2 hours, etc...given up.
- Dr Rx a hybrid. computer search finds "Hybrid universal CPAPmask, model HYB500"

Q: anyone have experience with it?? I found 1 blog, woman liked concept, but couldn't get it to fit her face shape. I'm about to buy one, any thoughts greatly appreciated. TY:)

looks like a Devilbiss cpap mask. i've used the ResMed Liberty, but haven't used this one. we'll see if anyone else has .. .
I struggled with full face masks and nasal masks plus mouthtaping for 19 months. The biggest problem with the full face masks was my very sensitive nose bridge. Even when the headgear was adjusted lightly a sore spot would develop on my nose bridge within three days.

Then the Hybrid mask was introduced in August of 2006 and I saw from photos that there was nothing touching the nose bridge. I immediately ordered one and have been using it ever since. I rarely get leaks and never any major ones. Just yesterday, I was thinking it has been at least four months since I had to adjust the headgear.

I can sleep in all positions with the mask and mostly sleep on my stomach with some occasional time on my sides.

The mask comes with all three sizes of the mouth pillow and all three sizes of the nasal pillows. Fitting should not be a problem.

Follow the manufacturer's instructions carefully to adjust the mask. Initial adjustments to the headgear are critical and there are two tricks that improve the performance of the mask. Please ask me after you receive your mask.

Now having said that, please realize that every mask has users that love it and users that hate it. I have talked to many people about this mask and believe that many of the ones who did not like it did not take the time to adjust it properly.

Whatever you decide, good luck.
I have the Hybrid mask. I tried unsuccessfully to get it adjusted right so it was comfortable without leaks.
