Here we go again
Well, I have tried the mirage quattro, ComfortFull 2 and I am currently using the FullLife full face mask. I was very happy with the FullLife mask to start with, but I have developed this nasty sore on the bridge of my nose. At first I thought it was because the mask was too tight, but I when I loosened it just a little bit I had significant leakage.So, I am on to yet another mask. I talked with my DME today and he doesn't want me using the FullLife anymore because he doesn't want me to have the issue of skin breakdown. He has put in an order for the Hybrid full face mask which is just like the mirage liberty they are just manufactured by different companies I believe. The DME that I spoke with today is the General manager of the location that I use. His comment to me was "I don't know why we didn't try that mask after the first one didn't work for you" I felt like reaching through the phone and strangling him. I mean its been a real joy trying to find a mask that works for me, and to think they could have made it a lot easier and I wouldn't have to deal with this huge sore spot on my nose that is just about the size of Texas, well maybe not quite that big. I am really hoping that the Hybrid with be "the one". I should have my new mask within a week (I hope)
Until then I guess that I will have to use the Quattro mask even though it makes my forehead sore. I think that I would rather deal with that over dealong with a huge sore on my face. I will say that this quest for "the one" is quite frustrating. Have any of you had difficulty finding the right mask for you?

First, I trust there's some unstated reason that you're on a full face mask (e.g. mouth breathing) that precludes trying a nasal-only mask. If that's not the case, there's a nasal mask made of cloth (the Sleep Weaver) that might be less irritating.
Second, the Hybrid is similar to the Liberty, but not "just like it". The design of the nasal pillows is quite different (on the Hybrid, you can select either of two heights, on the Liberty you cannot), the feel of oral cushion is quite different (to me, at least; the Hybrid felt as if it spread the pressure over a larger area), and the Hybrid oral cushion comes with a chin flap. The headgear is also quite different--the angle of the top straps on the Hybrid allow more control over lift.

And you are correct. I am a mouth breather therefore the nasal mask is not an option for me. I had read somewhere about the cloth mask and it sounds like a wonderful thing. Maybe one day they will be able to make a full face mask that is cloth (If they haven't already)

I'm not a DME either, and I'm sorry if the tone came out wrong. The point I was trying to make, which probably didn't make it through, is that people tend to have different results from similar masks by different manufacturers because of individual differences. A Hybrid might work great for one person while the Liberty fails miserably, and vice versa, which is why I tried both.
And according to the SleepWeaver site FAQ:
Do you offer a full face mask version of the SleepWeaver?
The SleepWeaver is a Nasal Mask. We do not currently offer a full face mask version of the SleepWeaver. Other versions of cloth mask are under development and will be introduced in the future.

Oh, no worries. When I wrote that response I was just "in a mood". I am learning that each individual has different experiences with different masks. Too bad that there isn't a full faced cloth mask out on the market yet. That would be absolutely wonderful!
I did want to give an update about seeing my doctor about what all the numbers meant on my test results. The only thing that I got out of him was that I had 3 events during the sleep study, but the main concern is how my oxygen dropped several times through the night into the 80% range. He said that is a very dangerous level. He then told me that he could give me a copy of the results. I told him that I already had a copy and that I didn't know what any of those numbers meant. His exact response was "I don't know either". What a way to put your patients mind at ease huh?
