I'm a Kaiser patient who's just been diagnosed with severe sleep apnea. I currently have a "loaner machine"... a Renstar Auto 500M. My insurance doesn't cover purchase of a machine, so I'm on my own. I've decided to purchase a Resmed Swift 2 nasal pillow mask, but I'm not sure about what CPAP machine to purchase. I've decided I want one that has an SD card to keep track of my data, has auto-adjusting pressure for inhale/exhale, and manual altitude adjustment is fine. If it comes with a humidifier I need to be able to operate it without using that feature, I don't know what other features to examine (ramp time?), or how to choose a machine once I have a list of good candidates. I need help... anyone?
