Gen. McCrystal's lack of judgment - Due to a lack of sleep ?

The only reason I’ve heard presented thus far as a possible rationale for Gen. McCrystal’s serious lapse of judgment was voiced on TV today by some medical commentators who talked about the general’s habit of sleeping only 4 hours a night.  They ventured that a lack of sleep contributes to a lack in one’s judgment and that they thought that a lack of sleep certainly could been have a significant factor in the case with Gen. McCrystal - that while one can try to get by with a lack of sleep that one usually does wind up showing a lack of judgment.  Others that were mentioned on the show who have been noted for sleeping little are: Bill Clinton, Martha Stewart and Donald Trump.

What do you think about his jaw structure? http://www.google.com/images?q=stanley+mcchrystal&hl=en&tbs... Does it say anything about the probability of obstructive sleep apnea?

I have two friends that go to bed about midnight and get up at 4:00 a.m. or 4:30 a.m. because "they can't sleep". I suspect they have sleep apnea and the suffering is worse in the latter hours of the night where REM sleep may predominate - so they just arise early. One of them has admitted to snoring heavily so he is almost surely an apneic.

I also wonder if both of the Clintons have had sleep apnea ruled out. They both have weak chins and bags under their eyes and of course, Bill had heart disease.
