First trip out of the USA with cpap
I leave Saturday for a desperately needed diving trip off the coast of Venezula. The airline says that the bag with the cpap is not counted as a carry on. Has anyone found this to be challenged? I'll have a full sized carry on with essential dive and camera gear and am hoping for no hassles.

I flew to Hawaii, not International, but didn't have any trouble with my bag not being treated as carry on and not counted as carry on. I ended up checking my bag on the trip home- too much to carry and after I almost fell down the up escalator (bad Balance) I decided CPAP and maybe a backpack were enough to carry.
Have a good trip with great diving.

Hi Dianne, Is distilled water available for your humidifier? Shipping a jug to the island would be expensive....I guess filtered or bottled would be ok. Or if you are on the beach you may not need the humidifier at all. Hope you have a swell time and post a photo of the view for us. Good Sleep,Chris

Thanks for the information. I returned from my dive trip and had no problems traveling with the cpap machine. I did do what Mary did on a trip and checked the unit on the way back instead of carrying it.

Hi Chis,
I still kept the humidifier setting on 2 and it didn't change. Being under the ocean with salt water constantly in my nasal passages was, however, the equivalent of a continual "neti pot treatment"!
I do read all the comments about humidifier issues but maybe it's because I always sleep in air conditioning (year round... South Florida) that my nasal passages crave cool dry air!!
I did have to use bottled water in the humidifier as there was no distilled water on the island. Not that I looked very hard;)
