Finally progress & light @ end of tunnel~my doggedness is paying off!!!

I have stubbornly held on since that fateful 1st night on CPAP (March 17, 2011)  Some horrible miserable nights.  Still moments when I hate the Damn mask.  BUT~last over night pulse ox May 3 I had 20 minutes still in the low 80's.  Had pressure increased by "1" to 10.  Repeat test last week and now down to 5 minutes in upper 80's.  O2 machine which has been sitting her unused since March 17th can now go back on Monday!  Yippee.  Pressure now increased to 11 starting tonight & pulmonary doc seems pleased.  Hopefully only one more over night sat test (for now) in 3 weeks and Dr. Bailey feels if the low areas of oxygen are cut in half again she will feel we have met our goal.   I still will be on the quest for a better mask and may try some new ones in about a weeks my 3 month time frame will be here for insurance reimbursement.

Anyway, sorry for the rambling.  But for anyone new (even newer than I) just try to be patient and persevere. I have to say  I never once took the mask off from day one.  I was not sure I would "beat it" and members here encouraged me.  SO hang in there.  Sleep does get easier with all the apparatus!!!  Oh, & I love Quietus liners now.  Have also just ordered a mask liner from pad a cheek to see how it compares.  Still some issues from dry eyes some mornings.

So glad that things are looking up.  This is not something that one goes into without some trial and error and so glad that you were able to work through that time.

With age my eyes have gotten drier as well.  Have you tried any eyedrops to see if they help?  I find that my eyes tend to feel better in the a.m. if I use some prior to bed, although it could just be a placebo effect.

Going to get some today.  They feel fine after I have been up about an hours.  SO I don't put my contacts in until they feel better.  Thanks~

Do you have allergies?  That might be contributing to the dry eyes as well.  If so try some allergy eye drops as well.
I do have seasonal allergies but they are well controlled with medications.  Until the CPAP I never woke in the morning with red, dry eyes.  It does go away~I did not make it to the store today to try a dry eye med. It may not even be from leakage~might be my "exhaust"!    :)     People that can use nasal pillows don't know how lucky they are!!!!

Try one of those sleep mask that Wal-Mart sells.  It might help as well to keep the air out of your eyes.
Just don't think I can stand anything else on my head.  This morning they felt better.  :)
