Anyone know what's up with the dramatic countdown on the Respironics homepage (http://sleepapnea.respironics.com/) ? See below:

I was told that there was a new nasal mask coming out similar to the ResMed Vista (aka...the best mask ever made) in mid October, so that's probably it.

They also have a newer series of CPAP. It's a post M-series thing. I'm not sure when it's supposed to be released.

do you mean the PR1 Auto CPAP? If so, i think that cat's out of the bag and the system is widely available online.

If it is not the new mask, perhaps a replacement for the M series? Maybe a cheaper, more stripped down CPAP?
just found out it's about this:

The future of sleep therapy begins.

At precisely 10:13 a.m. on Tuesday, October 13, Philips Respironics will be launching a product so significant we believe it will transform your expectations of what a sleep therapy device can do for patient care.

Leave it to Philips Respironics to take the next step in the advancement of sleep therapy.

A system so advanced – yet so simple – it will change sleep therapy as you know it today
A product developed specifically to meet the needs of a changing homecare environment
Technology born from a rich lineage of sleep industry firsts from Respironics
It’s what the industry has been asking for. It is the future. See it revealed at Medtrade Booth #2820 on 10/13 @ 10:13.

Visit http://www.1013at1013.com/ to learn more about one of the most significant new product releases in years – and how it will impact the future of sleep therapy.
Mike please keep us posted on this development!!

I know you will as you are great about keeping abreast of what is happening in the world of sleep apnea and treatment options!!

I appreciate all the time and effort that goes into being as knowledgeable as you.
aw shucks ;-)

for me, this is a bit anticlimactic because i've known about the PR1 for some time.

Yes. That's the unit that I'm talking about.

I think that people in the sleep field all know about it. Now it's getting its own "Coming out Party." We just received our....1 machine on Monday. It's pretty spiffy. As you know it adds humidification up to the point before rainout would occur, senses Central apnea by "pinging" with a puff of air, and you can't screw up the flow sensor by shaking the machine violently when filled with water.

Apparently violent CPAP shaking is a widespread problem. ;^)

Well, the PR SystemOne Auto was been released, August 20 was its debut, I think. But - maybe there's more to the PR SystemOne series, like a straight CPAP and a bi-level, and maybe an ST, etc.

I'm interested in their coming out w/a SystemOne bi-level AND the d*mn EncorePro 2.1 software we keep hearing about but no one has or has access to.
It is the official launch of the PR System One. Earlier this week, they released two more machines in the PR line. There is are now 3 machines! 10/13 is the first day of Medtrade. This will kick off the official launch of the new machines.

So there are now 3 models:

PR System One REMstar Plus CPAP Machine - Model # DS250S
(with C-Flex)

PR System One REMstar Pro CPAP Machine with C-Flex Plus - Model # DS450S

PR System One REMstar Auto CPAP with Heated Humidifer - Model # DS550HS (this was released last month).

The "Plus" and the "Pro" cost less... but look exactly like the "Auto". They all share the new humidifier design (which I can report is fantastic). After using the DS550HS for more than 5 weeks now, I am very pleased... I'm still having great results. Have never experienced any rainout yet and my AHI is consistently lower than with the M.

Maybe there will be other surprise announcements that day (like patient software). But I'm not getting my hopes up as this event caters to the doctors & providers.

The other new machines can be seen over at cpap.com... I haven't seen them anywhere else yet.
Oh whoopee! They still insist on producing a compliance data only Plus in their new line. Snort! And sheesh! The only d*mn difference is the internal software so why the h*ll bother?? It would be cheaper to NOT have to "install" different internal software just to deny patients and sleep professionals the important data.

I am beginning to get DISGUSTED w/the manufacturers for continuing to produce these d*mn compliance data only devices.
ResMed Rules, Resperonics are Posers. Now That's Random!
And over to cpaptalk its always Resmed responsible for any new rules we don't like, at least in the expressed opinions of a good share of the older usage Respironics users. *wicked grin" There I go picking on my buddies over there!
