Hi Guys,

I have an irritable nostril from my nasal pillows, it is so sore that I have only been using my CPAP for a few hours every night. My Sleep Doc examined and said it was red raw. Ok, so now what do I do?

The Vaseline is out due to the fact (which I checked with my Doc) that long term use is a health hazard.

My DME guy told me to try plain K-Y Jelly, (surgical kind)

I saw the Cann-Ease on a CPAP website, is it worth ordering?

Any suggestions to get this to heal up quickly, I can't stand not being able to use my machine !!!!

Thanks,

Donna B.

Looks promising.  You could also use lanolin that nursing mother's use on their nipples to prevent them from getting raw and irritated.  Maybe take a few days off to clear this up- don't let it get out of hand. Lansinoh is the brand of lanolin recommended. Good Luck.

Hi Donna,  Ayr  nasal gell  $6 or surgi lube are helpful protectants sounds like you need to heal first by switching to a Full Face Mask to Relieve the Reinjury each night. Taking days off .......naaa not good for me. Cain stuff I havent tried Hope you find relief soon!  Good sleep ,Chris

I would try something over the counter first -- as suggested Ayr gel, or lanolin.  Your nose will toughen up, but never the less it can be very painful when experiencing it.  Just don't give up.  If nothing else, switch to a nasal mask or full face mask to give your nose a break.

Something I forgot to suggest which has helped me.Suspend the hose so you are not pulling the hole thing when you move.I repurposed an angled rod welded to a plate put under ths foot of the bed using rubber bands to hold the hose at the edge of the bed at just above the level of my head. Good Sleep, Chris

This is an alternate to the Ayr Gel.  I find both Ayr Gel and RoEzIt cream work well for this problem.  I am not familiar with Cann-Ease. Once the sore area is healed, use the cream or gel regularly to prevent new flare ups. I find the moisture from the humidifier contributes to the "chaffing" effect but it is easy to prevent with these products.  Good luck.
