I have severe sleep apnea and my doctor said that a dental device would not work for me. My dentist disagrees. I have not been using my CPAP for the past few months and figure that using the dental device would be better than nothing. What do YOU think?

The oral appliance is a service I provide for my patients with OSA.  We always have them see an MD and have an overnight PSG first.  If they can wear a CPAP thats great. If not we get good results for many (not all) with the oral appliance.  Minor bite changes and TMJ discomfort are possible and in fact sometimes unavoidable though we can minimize with proper follow up.  In the balance-breathing vs slight discomfort-breathing usually wins
