for those of you still struggling with your cpap, try to find a qualified dentist to help.  cpap is 100% effective ...if you can tolerate it!  combination therapy with an oral appliance can often help you lower the pressure on the cpap making it more comfortable.  making progress on the md/dds connection, teaching a class to residents at uc davis medical school on monday jan 9, also just started construction on a new clinic 100miles from me in modesto,ca so the patients have better access without having to drive so far.  trying my best to set up a virtual office through web based high def. consulting.  working on logistics so i can answer in person , face to face, much like skype but the resolution is better.  goal is to have a network of these available at minimal if any charge.  not very techie, but i have some good help.  keep fighting the good fight, work on your sleep hygiene, keep that resolution to lose weight if needed.

fun fact...did you all know that a number one cause of acid reflux is sleep apnea and respiratory effort??  think about that next time you see a loved one reach for an antacid, they may be treating the symptom but not the disease, yours in health, tim mickiewicz, d.d.s.

Tim are you AASM certified?

I am working on board status for the AADSM, takes a few years, got all my cases done , they just make you go to the meetings 2 out of three years, kind of silly, sure cure for insomnia though.  they do have a great journal.  I am a Diplomate of the American Academy of Pain Management and was one of the few accredited pain centers through this prestigious mult-disciplinary group, but they stopped accrediting due to dollars.  Currently i am contracted with all of the major medical groups in the area, working on medicare participation which is a quagmire.  I am the go-to guy in the area for sleep and TMD.  The residents from UC Davis Medical School train with me and i do grand rounds for them, in fact teaching a group tomorrrow.  I am on the Somnomed Academy faculty, training dentists about sleep and I always mix in TMD issues as I feel strongly that any dentist who makes oral appliances have a strong foundation in TMD as you can create a ton of problems.  I have been focusing my practice in this area since it's inception, teach and run study clubs and am basically an information junkie.  You can learn more about my plans at www.pacificorofacialpain.com. this is a consulting group that is slowly coming together to develop multi-discipline centers.  So long story short, I have a Phd. in results.  no brag , just want to help where i can and can empathize as I too suffer from sleep apnea, with great results using oral appliance. happy sleeping tm
