CPAP Filter Was Disgusting
My wife swapped out her CPAP Filter tonight -- the little white disposable one for the M-Series Respironics unit she has. It's supposed to be white!

Yikes!!! 4 months?? Maybe I should get the in-line HEPA filter for my VPAP Auto!!! AND check for the white filter on this PR S1 I'm using! I change my regular VPAP Auto filter once a month just because of having had a furnace add-on woodburner for some 20 years and no faith in the duct cleanings. They never look bad, BUT ... w/7 indoor/outdoor cats, 3 of which are longhairs, and 2 hairy indoor/outdoor dogs .... those filters have collected a bit in a month.
The first time I checked my Resmed filter it had been after about 3 months of use and it was dusty but not so bad as your wife's white filter. It was enough tho that that is when I started changing once a month. I wish the Respironics regular filters weren't black!!!

what kind of health was that patient in generally, I wonder. did he have chronic respiratory problems? I imagine he would have a lot of bacteria crawling around up in his sinuses.

The machine was encrusted with a yellow salt like substance. The filter fell apart in my hands. Grossest thing I have ever seen.

You know Mike I can't remember. That was back before I had any real idea of what I was doing. I remember that he was a trucker, and that I set him up with a new machine. That's it though.

The filters can get bad if not changed/cleaned regularly. Whether or not to use the optional add-on filters depends on one's geographic location & individual sensitivity to stuff in the local air. Do what works best for you, but please clean it up before your sleep professional gets hands on the unit. The gag factor can be overwhelming.
