CPAP Clinician Manuals: How Protective are Manufacturers of Them Getting to Patient?
CPAP clinician's manuals are routinely removed by DMEs before a CPAP machine is delivered to the patient. But the manufacturers include the clinician's manual with the CPAP when it is sold to the DME. My question is how touchy are the manufacturers about this information getting in the hands of the patient? I know the DMEs/ RTs don't want the clinician's manual to get in the hands of the patient. But do the manufacturers really care?

Mike, I don't think Resmed cares at all - except in the USA because of our FDA and in Canada because of whatever Canadian body it is that is the equivalent of our FDA.
Patients on the Continent can get MUCH more assistance directly from Resmed than we can here in North America. The same holds true for their ResScan software. I don't know about Respironics (sorry, Philips Respironics, PR)

shame the manufacturers don't make this available someplace for those who are willing and able to handle the "power" of the full truth about their machines.

i would think making the clinicians' manuals available is perfectly legal and does not contravene any FDA regulation. the machines are regulated by the FDA and are not available without prescription, but the manuals are not regulated.

Rock Hinkle!!! You're home! The test is over and done with? How'd it feel when you finished?
One site was told to remove the information or face litigation. I forget which one. cpapsupply maybe? I doubt that they would bother w/some small schmuck but a prominent forum website?? A whole 'nother matter.
I'm all for sharing info but some info is better shared privately "back channel", don't you think?

You generally get the clinician's guide/manual when you buy a machine from an online supplier.
